"Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink"

Turkey here. I decided to take over my blog this morning and update you on my life and share my kibbles worth on how I'm adapting to the start of my new life.

My foster mom and dad keep reminding me that my forever family is out there and that when the timing is right our paths will cross. In the meantime, I'm taking every opportunity to learn the rules of the house from my foster siblings. For example, when it's time to eat, I've learned that I get my food second and while it's okay to see what everyone else is doing, I'm better off staying at my bowl and eating my food. I've also learned that in the morning we go potty before breakfast and then take a quick nap while the foster parents get ready for this thing called "work" and then after potty break two, we head to our crates. I know right where my crate is and go right in when instructed.

In the afternoons when they get home we get playtime. I think I've finally figured toys out. Not only am I allowed to play with them, I get so much enjoyment out of playing with them and love when foster mom and dad play downstairs with me. My favorite toys are the squirrel and tennis ball - did you hear me future mom and dad (wink, wink) - the squirrel and tennis ball are my favorite!

I'm learning new things every day and I think I catch on rather quickly. I look forward to each new day and often day dream about my forever home,  what it will be like when I have my own bed and toys or the day I hopefully get to help a foster learn the rules of living in a house.

It's time for my morning kibble so I gotta go!

Slurps and licks,
Turkey

I'm No Turkey

Turkey after we picked her up.

One of the most rewarding aspects of bringing a new greyhound into your home whether it be because you opted to adopt or foster is being able to watch them as they become acclimated to their new life. There are many firsts you get to experience and celebrate with them including learning to become comfortable walking on hardwood floors, playing with toys and going up and down stairs to name a few. This week, Turkey has marked all of these firsts off her list and has proven that she is no turkey!

In addition to the firsts, there are also many laughs as they become more inquisitive about household items such as a ceiling fan. The other morning I noticed Turkey seemed a little confused and was staring at the ceiling. I soon realized that the ceiling fan was on and had caught her eye. She continued to stare at the fan for quite some time.

Turkey has been with us for a week now and it is amazing to see how much she has blossomed. She is a beautiful girl whose looks and personality so easily steal your heart. While she enjoys spending time with her foster siblings and is thankful that they share their toys and beds, she is looking forward to finding her forever home!
